Individual Coaching
WHO?
I work with smart people like you, who are driven by knowing that they can make a difference. Sometimes, you just need that little bit of extra help to make a powerful and lasting shift.
HOW?
I will help you focus on what is important in your life, making you, your team or family happier and more engaged.
I will help you see beyond the barriers you create, replacing them with goals that can seem startling but are wholly achievable.
I will help you see more opportunities, be more open to change, and lead you to action.
I will focus on where you are the solution, helping you learn more about yourself and how resourceful you really are.
Here are some recurring topics from clients that may feel familiar to you. Click on one to see how we might work together.
-
"When working from home, I can suddenly find myself drifting into a more doubtful and negative frame of mind"
Keeping motivated
Living with an unpredictable major traumatic event, as we all have during the pandemic, is new to all of us. It is important to keep hold of and generate action from all that truly motivates us. We can work with knowing and sticking to your values in order to focus on what is ultimately important and inspiring to you.
-
"I am my biggest and best critic. That self-criticism leaves me drained and feeling like a failure. Worst of all, I begin to believe it"
Taming your inner critic
We will work with just how vocal and present your inner critic really is and get beyond it. You will use practical guides and learn new tools to tame it, and even use it to your advantage.
-
"I’m constantly playing catch-up and never seem to have enough time for family, friends and work, let alone myself"
Training your perspectives
Worrying about whether you can get it all done is stress that gets you nowhere – what I call ‘drain stress’. We can work to help you take back that time and reach a place where you are in full control.
-
“I am so hard on myself; it’s like I don’t even like me”
Loving yourself first
There is no one harder on yourself than you. OK, you may meet or work with some really unpleasant people at times, but they don’t have the staying power to pick holes like you do. We can work on how and when this happens, and you can see that there are better ways to love yourself.
-
“I always seem to find time to help others before myself. It’s like I can’t say no”
Can’t help helping?
You are not alone. We can work on the emotions around understanding what drives you to think of yourself last and why you feel you must help others. It’s often about acceptance and learning to live with what life has dealt you. This work can be quite emotional. It’s tough but, ultimately, rewarding to the soul.
-
“My biggest life challenge is balancing quality time across work, kids, partner and house… Where am I in all that?
The importance of putting on your own oxygen mask before helping others
The more responsibilities you have, the less space there is for yourself. You will learn how vital it is to care for yourself first, so you will be working at ‘full-on’ energy levels in order to be there for everyone else in your life.
-
“I am a parent, a wife/husband and have a successful career, but sometimes I feel that it’s my career that rules me. I don’t even get to work out when I want to”
Committing to change
We can work with the levels of permission you give yourself and just how committed you are to follow those through. We can also look at the choice you have with your habits and work out a way that’s right for you to follow through with new choices that serve you better. Change is always time- and choice-based.
-
“I used to let my hair down, have fun and really enjoy life, but now it seems like letting go is hard to do”
Letting go and fulfilling your dreams
The imagination is such a creative place to start. Your mind and my experience, plus ongoing training, will get you (metaphorically) dancing on the table, even before your sensible brain tells you you’re too grown up to do it.
-
“Sometimes, when I’m faced with issues – however large or small – they start to become overwhelming and I end up anxious and unproductive”
Make it achievable
We will work with your belief that you can do it, and that in most cases it is simply other parts of you that are creating these feelings. We can create simple routines that help you notice and control the onset of these feelings. We build off your strengths, and if the job is indeed large and overwhelming, we work on how to ask for help, building a support network and making sure you start by just doing the smaller tasks that produce quick results.
